Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 22, 2026
DriveHub ("we", "our", "the app") is built by ThePearlie Tech Co. This policy explains what data DriveHub collects, why, and who else sees it. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than dense legal text.
What we collect, and why
| Data | Why we collect it | Stored where |
|---|---|---|
| Precise location | Navigation, trip tracking, SOS location sharing | Your device, synced to your iCloud account |
| Vehicle diagnostic data (OBD-II readings, fault codes) | Live dashboard, trip scoring, diagnostics history | Your device, synced to your iCloud account |
| Dashcam video & audio | Loop recording, crash evidence | Your device only — never uploaded to our servers |
| Emergency contact name & phone number | SOS and crash alerts | Your device, synced to your iCloud account |
| AI Copilot messages | Generating responses to your questions | Sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response (see below); also stored on your device/iCloud for conversation history |
| Purchase history | Unlocking Pro features you've paid for | Apple's StoreKit — we receive only purchase status, not your payment details |
| Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) | Decoding make/model/year via a public lookup | Sent to NHTSA's public vehicle database (see below); not linked to your identity by NHTSA |
Third parties that process your data
A few features need to send specific data to outside services to work. Here's exactly what goes where:
- Anthropic (Claude API) — when you message DriveHub AI, that message is sent to Anthropic to generate a response. Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how they handle that data: anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
- Mapbox — powers in-app navigation and maps. Your location is sent to Mapbox to render maps and calculate routes. See mapbox.com/legal/privacy.
- Apple (iCloud, CloudKit, StoreKit) — your trips, vehicles, settings, and purchase records sync via your personal iCloud account, end-to-end encrypted by Apple. We never see this data ourselves — it's stored in your private CloudKit container, not on servers we control.
- NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) — if you scan or enter a VIN, it's sent to NHTSA's free public vehicle database to decode the make, model, and year. This is a U.S. government API and does not require or collect any personal identifying information beyond the VIN itself.
Data we never collect
- We do not access your system Contacts — emergency contacts are typed in manually within the app.
- We do not collect Health app data — DriveHub does not request HealthKit access.
- We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or any cross-app tracking.
Your choices
- Location, camera, microphone, and Bluetooth permissions can be revoked anytime in iOS Settings → DriveHub.
- Delete your data by deleting the app, or contact us (below) to request deletion of any data associated with your account.
- Export or review your data by contacting us — we'll respond within 30 days.
Data retention
Trip history, diagnostic readings, and conversation history are kept until you delete them or delete the app. Dashcam footage loops and overwrites automatically based on your storage settings, except clips protected by crash detection, which you can delete manually at any time.
Children's privacy
DriveHub is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you in-app.
